Wainuiomata Community Champions
It’s OK to ask for help Tena koe It is with pleasure we extend this invitation to you to join us in celebrating the launch of our Wainuiomata Community Champions It’s Not Ok Campaign. When: Saturday 1st September 2018 Where: Wainuiomata Community Centre Time: 11.00 am – 2.00 pm Wainuiomata is well known for it’s collective strength, versatility and embedded community spirit. As an active community we are taking a very pro-active and staunch approach to the issue of Family Violence. Family Violence is epidemic across New Zealand; it leaves long lasting complex effects for whanau, individuals and communities. We are working together to support the elimination of family violence in our community. Over the past 12 months, a working group has been driving and designing a grass roots champions campaign, to promote the message that “It’s OK to ask for help”. Everyday local community members have put their hands up to be champions, they will offer a listening ear, guidance and navigation into support services for all those effected by Family Violence. We want our people to be supported in the quest for living violence free. This free event will include live entertainment, free kai, fun activities for tamariki and will also give our community the chance to meet our trained champions. It would be our privilege if you could attend this event to show your support for our community and also for our quest for whanau who are safe, confident and healthy. Rob Cameron from Cameron Harrison Butchers presents us a homegrown story on his successful career as an award winning butcher, a demonstration on meat preparation and how to sharpen knives. In 2009 Rob Cameron and Simon Harrison (then a vegetarian) came together to turn Rob's dream of offering hand made, traditional meat products into a reality.
Their aim is simple; they strive to provide a superior shopping experience by maintaining “True Art of Butchery and Delicatessen” in our local communities. Recognised nationally as producing some of the best meat in the country, Cameron Harrison Butchery and Delicatessen bring you pies, fresh meat, smoked meats and award winning ham, sausages and bacon.
