Wainuiomata Community Champions
It’s OK to ask for help Tena koe It is with pleasure we extend this invitation to you to join us in celebrating the launch of our Wainuiomata Community Champions It’s Not Ok Campaign. When: Saturday 1st September 2018 Where: Wainuiomata Community Centre Time: 11.00 am – 2.00 pm Wainuiomata is well known for it’s collective strength, versatility and embedded community spirit. As an active community we are taking a very pro-active and staunch approach to the issue of Family Violence. Family Violence is epidemic across New Zealand; it leaves long lasting complex effects for whanau, individuals and communities. We are working together to support the elimination of family violence in our community. Over the past 12 months, a working group has been driving and designing a grass roots champions campaign, to promote the message that “It’s OK to ask for help”. Everyday local community members have put their hands up to be champions, they will offer a listening ear, guidance and navigation into support services for all those effected by Family Violence. We want our people to be supported in the quest for living violence free. This free event will include live entertainment, free kai, fun activities for tamariki and will also give our community the chance to meet our trained champions. It would be our privilege if you could attend this event to show your support for our community and also for our quest for whanau who are safe, confident and healthy.
